چکیده

In this paper, we propose a coherence-driven approach to action selection in agents. The mechanism is inspired by the cognitive theory of coherence as proposed by Thagard . Based on a proposal to extend BDI agents with coherence, we interpret, how action selection can be viewed as a coherencemaximising problem. Contrasted against the classical BDI approach to action selection where actions are selected against a pre-determined set of beliefs and desires, this method offers a dynamic view of the cognitions of an agent, where a set of beliefs desires and intentions are selected together to keep the coherence of the agent. We illustrate the approach by simulating how a coherence-driven robot selects its next action to pursue.

A Systems Thinking Approach to Inform Coherent Policy Action for NCD Prevention; Comment on “How Neoliberalism Is Shaping the Supply of Unhealthy Commodities and What This Means for NCD Prevention”

Lencucha and Thow tackle the enormous public health challenge of developing non-communicable disease (NCD) policy coherence within a world structured and ruled by neoliberalism. Their work compliments scholarship on other causal mechanisms, including the commercial determinants of health, that have contributed to creating the risk commodity environment and barriers to N...

How Neoliberalism Is Shaping the Supply of Unhealthy Commodities and What This Means for NCD Prevention

Alcohol, tobacco, and unhealthy foods contribute greatly to the global burden of non-communicable disease (NCD). Member states of the World Health Organization (WHO) have recognized the critical need to address these three key risk factors through global action plans and policy recommendations. An Optimal Approach to Local and Global Text Coherence Evaluation Combining Entity-based, Graph-based and Entropy-based Approaches

Text coherence evaluation becomes a vital and lovely task in Natural Language Processing subfields, such as text summarization, question answering, text generation and machine translation. Existing methods like entity-based and graph-based models are engaging with nouns and noun phrases change role in sequential sentences within short part of a text. They even have limitations in global coheren...

High-density EEG coherence analysis using functional units applied to mental fatigue.

Electroencephalography (EEG) coherence provides a quantitative measure of functional brain connectivity which is calculated between pairs of signals as a function of frequency. Without hypotheses, traditional coherence analysis would be cumbersome for high-density EEG which employs a large number of electrodes. One problem is to find the most relevant regions and coherences between those region...
